Keeping our children at the centre

Welcome to Purple Hill Homes
A safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for children aged 8 to 16 with emotional and behavioural needs.
At Purple Hill Homes, we specialise in providing high-quality residential care for children and young people who require protection, emotional support, and a stable environment in which to thrive. We offer a safe haven for children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD), many of whom have experienced trauma, disrupted attachments, or complex family circumstances.
Our home is more than a place to live — it’s a place to heal, grow, and begin a new chapter with hope and support. We are committed to creating a warm, structured, and family-oriented setting where every child is treated with compassion, dignity, and respect.
Led by a team of skilled and experienced care professionals, we use trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to meet the individual needs of each child. We understand the importance of consistency, trust, and emotional safety in helping young people rebuild their lives.
At the heart of Purple Hill Homes are the values we live by every day: kindness, respect, integrity, inclusion, and resilience. These values guide our interactions, shape our care plans, and inspire our commitment to helping each child rediscover their strengths, grow in confidence, and achieve their full potential.

A Comfortable and Child-Centred Living Environment
Every space in our home—from shared living areas to individual bedrooms—has been thoughtfully designed and furnished with the needs and wellbeing of our children at heart. Our goal is to create an environment where every child feels safe, relaxed, and truly at home.
The home features individual bedrooms, a sensory/games room, a cosy lounge, a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, and a secure outdoor space for recreation and relaxation. Children are encouraged to personalise their bedrooms, with opportunities to begin making these spaces their own during settling-in visits. This helps to create a sense of comfort, ownership, and belonging from the very start of their journey with us.

Enjoying, achieving and thriving.
At Purple Hill Homes we actively promote a healthy and balanced lifestyle for all children in our care. We understand that some children may require additional encouragement and tailored support to access meaningful leisure and social opportunities, and we are committed to making that happen.
Each child is supported to take part in extracurricular activities, explore personal interests, and develop hobbies that reflect their individuality. We believe that engaging in enjoyable, enriching experiences helps children discover their strengths, build confidence, and enhance self-esteem and trust in others.
We provide access to transport to broaden opportunities for participation in a wide range of activities — both as a group and individually. While group activities are encouraged within the home, we also support children in joining community-based groups such as sports teams or clubs. These experiences help foster a sense of belonging and promote positive integration within the wider community.
Children are encouraged to share their interests and choose the activities they wish to pursue. These are incorporated into a rolling calendar of after-school, weekend, and school holiday events. Additionally, we offer special activities linked to personal achievements and positive behaviour as part of our rewards and recognition approach.
We are also committed to supporting every child in observing religious and cultural festivals that are important to them, ensuring their identity and beliefs are respected and celebrated.
Our Commitment to the 9 Quality Standards
At Purple Hill homes, we are proud to align every aspect of our care with the 9 Quality Standards set out in the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015. These standards underpin how we support, protect, and empower every child in our home, ensuring their experiences are not only safe but also enriching and life-changing.
Below is how we bring each standard to life within our daily practice:
The Quality and Purpose of Care Standard
We provide a warm, nurturing home environment that meets each child’s individual needs. Our staff understand the importance of building strong, trusting relationships and creating a space where children feel valued and secure. Every child is welcomed with compassion and supported through clear routines, personal care plans, and a therapeutic approach to parenting.
The Children’s Wishes and Feelings Standard
Children in our home are always listened to. We ensure their views are taken seriously and that they play an active role in decisions about their daily care, routines, and future plans. Through keyworker sessions, house meetings, and informal chats, we create multiple opportunities for every child to express themselves and be heard.
The Education Standard
We support every child to achieve their full educational potential. Whether attending mainstream school, specialist provision, or accessing alternative learning, we work closely with education professionals to ensure continuity and progress. Children are provided with resources, support, and encouragement to engage in learning that is meaningful and suited to their needs.
The Enjoyment and Achievement Standard
Children in our home are always listened to. We ensure their views are taken seriously and that they play an active role in decisions about their daily care, routines, and future plans. Through keyworker sessions, house meetings, and informal chats, we create multiple opportunities for every child to express themselves and be heard.
The Health and Wellbeing Standard
Physical and emotional health is a key focus. Every child has a tailored Health Care Plan and access to GP, dental, and mental health services. We promote healthy eating, hygiene, and regular exercise, while also supporting mental wellbeing through therapeutic care and access to counselling or specialist support where needed.
The Positive Relationships Standard
We believe positive, respectful relationships are the foundation for healing and growth. Our staff model kindness, patience, and clear boundaries, helping children build trusting, meaningful connections. We also support safe and appropriate contact with families and those important to the child, where this is in their best interest.
The Protection of Children Standard
Safeguarding is central to all we do. Every member of our team is trained in child protection and understands how to identify, respond to, and prevent harm. Each child has a personalised risk assessment and safety plan. We promote open communication and empower children to speak up and feel safe at all times.
The Leadership and Management Standard
Our home is led by experienced, qualified managers who ensure high standards of care are consistently maintained. Staff are supported through training, supervision, and development opportunities. Our leadership team fosters a reflective, forward-thinking culture where quality improvement is continuous.
The Care Planning Standard
Every child’s placement is carefully planned and regularly reviewed to meet their changing needs. We work closely with local authorities, families, and other professionals to ensure plans are realistic, child-focused, and aspirational. Our goal is to support each young person in making meaningful progress and preparing confidently for their future.
