Each child has their own spacious bedroom, which can be personalised during their transition into the home helping to foster a sense of comfort, identity, and belonging from the outset.

Safety features include clearly marked alarm call points, secure exit doors, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, and a fire blanket.

At Lavender House, the voices of our young people are central to how we operate. We actively seek their views through regular house meetings, one-to-one conversations, and feedback forms—ensuring that their opinions help shape daily life and the overall environment of the home.

Home is where the heart is

At Lavender House, we’ve created a warm, family-style environment that children can genuinely call home. The property features a fully equipped kitchen, a welcoming dining area, a cosy lounge, modern bathrooms, three individual children’s bedrooms, a staff bedroom, and an on-site office. To promote privacy and dignity, all bathrooms and toilets are fitted with secure locks, supporting each child’s sense of safety and personal space.

The home also boasts a large garden offering children a space to relax, play, and stay active in a safe and supervised environment.

From the moment a child arrives, every effort is made to help them feel welcome and at ease. Each child is provided with their own bedroom, which can be personalised with their belongings and decorated to reflect their personality. They receive a carefully prepared welcome pack designed to help them begin to connect with their new surroundings from day one.

We understand that settling into a new home takes time, so introductions to other children and staff are done gradually, at the child’s own pace, and always with careful guidance and support. Our goal is to create a nurturing atmosphere where every child feels safe, included, and respected—while also recognising their individual comfort levels and emotional needs.

The Children We Care For

Lavender House is a nurturing and supportive home for children aged 8 to 16 with Social, Emotional, and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD). We are committed to providing individualised, therapeutic care that helps each child feel safe, understood, and empowered. A comprehensive assessment is carried out at the point of referral to ensure we can meet the specific needs of each young person. These assessments are continuously reviewed throughout their placement to make sure the support we offer remains responsive and relevant. If, at any stage, a child’s evolving needs exceed what we can provide, we work closely with professionals and local authorities to ensure a smooth and well-supported transition to an alternative setting. Lavender House is more than just a residential placement—it’s a home away from home. We create a warm, family-style environment where children can settle, feel secure, and begin to build positive relationships. Our goal is to help every child grow in confidence, resilience, and independence as they work toward achieving their full potential in a safe, structured, and caring space.
